A new display of rare books in the Medical Library has been created to introduce students and visitors to important medical personalities of the past. The books, generously donated by Professor Emeritus at Imperial College and Honorary Professor of Vascular Surgery at our School, Andrew Nicolaides, include important historical  works by pioneers of medicine such as Thomas Sydenham also known as the “English Hippocrates”, Joseph Lister, inventor of antiseptic surgery , and Jean Martin Charcot, the “Napoleon of Neurosis”, among others.
