With a very unique event which took place on Wednesday 21 May 2014, the Medical School concluded its mobile clinic expeditions for this academic year (2013-2014).   Our student volunteers visited the Asylum Seekers Centre in Kofinou, Larnaka where they offered diagnostic tests to more than 30 individuals who seek asylum in Cyprus.  After completing a consent form for each participant, students filled in a questionnaire which included previous medical history and common risk factors such as smoking, hypertension and diabetes. Measurement of parameters, such as body mass index (BMI), blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR) and plasma Glucose were also done. In addition spirometry tests, for assessment of lung functional capacity, were performed. Students worked under the guidance of Dr Joseph Moutiris, member of the Clinical Faculty of our Medical School.
