On  November 15, the Medical School held its first Mobile Clinic expedition of the year.  Student volunteers visited Lefkara, a village on the southern slopes of the Troödos Mountains, where they offered dermascopic evaluations of skin lesions to screen for skin cancer in the community. More than 30 people attended the event where students filled in questionnaires for the patients regarding their previous medical history and their reasons for attending the skin cancer screening event. Under the guidance of Dermatologist Christina Sizopoulou and Plastic Surgeon Dimitris Stavrou, dermascopic evaluations were conducted and patients were advised on how to follow up their skin conditions.  In  addition and prior to the examinations, Dr Christina Sizopoulou gave a presentation on how to protect your skin from the different types of skin cancer.

Once the community screening was complete, students, faculty and staff were given a tour of the village where they got to wander the cobbled streets and visit the Lefkara Folk Museum . The entire team enjoyed the expedition and it was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday helping the community.
