Founding Chair of the Department of Psychiatry Prof Pavlos Kymissis was recently awarded the Delphic Prize by the Hellenic Society for Advancement of Psychiatry and related sciences for his outstanding contribution to Psychiatry and related sciences. The prize was awarded during the opening ceremony of the 2nd Interdisciplinary Congress ‘Psychiatry and Related Sciences’ organised by the World Psychiatric Association and the International Neuropsychiatric Association in Athens.

Prof Kymissis studied Medicine at the University of Athens and trained as a neurologist and psychiatrist in Greece. He was then trained in Adult and Child Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.  He is Board certified in Adult and Child Psychiatry by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, a Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association.  Prof Kymissis is past President of the World Hellenic Biomedical Association and honorary President of the Cyprus Psychiatric Association. He is the author of about 60 publications
