The Medical School at a Glance

The University of Nicosia started the first medical school in Cyprus in 2011 by offering the St George’s, University of London graduate-entry MBBS through a franchise agreement.

Building on our experiences with the MBBS programme, the University of Nicosia Medical School is now offering a 6-Year MD degree programme designed for high school leavers and an MSc in Family Medicine for practicing primary care physicians.

In doing so, the School became the first on the island to offer medical programmes for both graduates and school-leavers, and more than 450 students from around the world are now enrolled in our Medical School.

The first graduation from the St George’s, University of London medical programme at the University of Nicosia took place on 15 May 2015. The ceremony at the State Theatre in Nicosia featured as keynote speaker President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and was attended by parents and guests from across the globe. This was a landmark not only for the Medical School but also for the country as a whole, because it celebrated the first graduation of doctors in Cyprus.
